AGAY DESTINATION GUIDE

ABOUT THE LOCATION

In between Saint-Raphaël and the dramatic red rocks of the Esterel Massif, Agay is a picturesque coastal village on the French Riviera. Known for its wide sandy bay, tranquil ambience and spectacular natural scenery, Agay offers the charm of the Côte d’Azur without the crowds of its more famous neighbours. Its proximity to Cannes (45 mins), Nice (1 hr) and Saint-Tropez (1 hr 20 mins) makes it a serene yet connected base for holidaymakers and residents alike.

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL

Agay is part of a rare segment of the Riviera still offering value growth potential. Agay properties for sale are more accessible compared to hotspots like Antibes or Nice, while demand for second homes and holiday lets is increasing steadily. With local regulations preserving the natural coastline and limiting overdevelopment, Agay’s property market offers a stable, long-term investment underpinned by natural scarcity and year-round appeal.

ADVISERS’ OPINION

Whether you're strolling along its sandy beaches or hiking through its scenic trails, Agay offers a peaceful retreat that feels like a timeless paradise.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Agay benefits from the broader development initiatives of the Saint-Raphaël commune. Recent improvements include upgrades to the coastal road and public transport connections, expanded cycling routes and enhanced marina facilities. The nearby Saint-Raphaël-Valescure TGV station connects the area directly to Paris and Marseille and new eco-tourism infrastructure is in development to promote sustainable travel and protect the local environment.

  • Travel to Récif in Saint-Raphaël to enjoy Michelin-rated food

HISTORY

Agay's sheltered bay has long made it a natural harbour, used by the Greeks, Romans and later Napoleon. In the 19th century, it became a popular stop for artists, writers and military figures travelling along the Riviera. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of The Little Prince, spent part of his childhood in Agay and praised its landscape in his writings.

THE TOWN

Agay today is a charming mix of laid-back seaside living and discreet elegance. It offers a selection of family-run restaurants, a beachfront promenade, weekly markets and essential services, all without losing its village charm. The community increases in summer but remains peaceful compared to the flashier Côte d’Azur resorts. Residents and visitors alike are drawn to its natural rhythms, whether for a summer getaway or a second home.
