HISTORY

The history of Montriond is deeply intertwined with the Alpine region's rich past. Originally a farming village, it has evolved over centuries but retains its authentic charm and heritage. Montriond's transformation began in the early 20th century when it started to attract outdoor enthusiasts for its pristine natural beauty and skiing potential. Over the years, it has managed to preserve its historical essence while embracing the influx of tourists and new residents.

THE VILLAGE TODAY

Today, Montriond is a vibrant community that caters to a wide range of interests. Beyond its exceptional skiing and snowboarding opportunities, the area is renowned for its summer activities, including hiking, mountain biking, and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Lac de Montriond. The natural park around the Dereches River is a particularly beautiful spot for a walk or bike ride and there are outdoor exercise machines for some al fresco fitness. The river leads to Morzine where you’ll find a skate park and tennis courts. Montriond’s proximity to the Pointe de Nantaux invites the adventurous at heart to challenge themselves with the vertical kilometre trail run.
