Tignes

The glacier resort of Tignes is situated in the Savoie Alps and is widely recognised as one of Europes finest ski destinations. A mere 15-minute drive away from Val DIsère, they are often considered two resorts in one when it comes to your skiing day.

Compared to its neighbour Val DIsère, Tignes boasts a more varied set of slopes and is set at a higher altitude by 200m. It is set between two peaks; La Grande Motte (3656m) and La Grande Casse (3852m), both of which are glaciers. Due to its accessibility to La Grande Motte, it allows skiing for 10 months of the year. This attracts many national ski teams who wish to train during the summer months, ensuring that the towns are lively most of the year.

Tignes is divided into five villages. Le Lavachet, Le Lac and Val Claret are the three main villages with a larger population near the Lake of Tignes with properties reflecting the rest of the Alps properties on sale. Les Boissesands and Les Brévières are further down on the mountain and well connected to the resort.

The town is regarded as having a fun and lively atmosphere for partying. It has a huge varieties of activities to choose from, whether in winter or summer. There is a cinema, a myriad of bars and brasseries and nightclubs to cater to everyones needs.

In the summer, you can witness the two highest golf courses in the world in action on either side of Lake of Tignes, attracting its own crowd of sports enthusiasts.

For those looking to have a space which is built around skiing, provides convenience, and great snow seasons and costs, Tignes is the ideal choice. That said, those who wish to find an authentic ski-village experience may be better served in nearby Val DIsère.
