Local property experts
Our team of property experts have found the very best chalets and apartments for sale in the popular French Alps ski resort, Combloux. With a modern-minded approach we apply to everything we do.
In Combloux there is a variety of ski property for sale, ranging from ski apartments complemented by on-site facilities through to standalone ski chalets which offer more privacy and space for larger groups. One of the biggest features of a ski property in Combloux is whether or not it has views of Mont Blanc, as aside from the kudos, this can improve rental income generation too.
Unlike purpose-built ski resorts, Combloux is a farming village that has slowly developed over time. This means that the architecture here remains very authentic and there are many older ski chalets too, however, those on the market often need some refurbishment. Complementing the local buildings as opposed to competing with them, new-build ski properties for sale in Combloux tend to be built in a traditional style.

Investment potential
Though only a few minutes away from chic Megève by car, Combloux offers more competitive prices which makes it a fantastic choice for those who know and love Megève but want more space for their money.
Sunny Combloux is a true year-round village that offers a great selection of summer activities too, such as swimming in its beautiful ecological lake. This means that owning a ski property here is a fantastic lifestyle investment as owners will have a home away from home for the summer holidays as well as winter breaks. In addition, there is potential for generating rental yields in the summer months too.
History
Combloux’s history spans all the way back to 1284 and before it became renowned for skiing it was a mountain farming community. By 1942, Combloux had around 130 farms, 26 of which are still in operation to this day.
In the early 20th century, Combloux started to garner attention from nearby city dwellers who would head here for some fresh mountain air during the summer months. It wasn’t long before the secret crossed the Channel and wealthy Brits started heading to Combloux too. Many of them would stay in the Grand Hôtel du Mont-Blanc which opened its doors in 1912 and boasted a golf course and tennis courts.
By 1935, Combloux had its own drag lift which is very impressive given that at the time there were only six drag lifts and 11 cable cars in operation in France. Whilst infrastructure improvements were put on hold during the war, development resumed by the late 1950s with several lifts added between then and 1989.
During 2007-2008, the resort underwent a number of infrastructural improvements which included replacing some of the chair lifts and improving the snowmaking capabilities of the resort.
The village today
Combloux is part of the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski domain which means it has 445km of groomed pistes right on the doorstep. In addition, Combloux is also linked to the newer Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area which is great for families as it has a range of beginner and intermediate slopes as well as several toboggan runs.
True to its farming roots, Combloux remains a year-round resort and there are still a number of working farms dotted around, including an educational farm which is open to tourists during the summer. Plus, there is a farmers’ market every Wednesday of the year where you can pick up delicious locally grown produce.
Though skiing may be the main draw, Combloux is a wonderful summer destination too and its ecological lake is not to be missed. With impressive mountain views, heated by the sun and filtered by 10,000 plants, it is the first ecological swimming lake in France and a huge hit with families.
