Inspired by the glamour of St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps, rustic Megève in the Evasion Mont Blanc ski domain is one of the world’s best-loved ski resorts. A true feast for the senses,  Megève is a unique destination where world-class skiing, Alpine charm and ground-breaking gastronomy collide.

A sought-after and upmarket resort, property prices start at around €10,000 per sqm and the very best properties for sale in Megève can reach as high as €20,000 per sqm. Despite the pandemic, demand for property in Megève remains robust and property prices rose by 1% between 2019 and 2020, according to the latest report from UBS.

As a true dual-season resort with a lively summer season, owning a property in Megève not only means that you have a home away from home for holidays in one of the Alps’ finest destinations but it also means that you can generate rental yields throughout the year. Indeed, Megève typically sees occupancy rates of around 60% during the summer months.

Exploring the village centre feels like taking a step back in time with its cobbled, car-free streets, medieval church and charming architecture. Here you will find a good selection of shops and restaurants too. However, it is important to remember that Megève is divided up into a collection of neighbourhoods and hamlets, each with its own ambience.

In a dominant position nestled between the forest and the main village, Jaillet is a private, intimate hamlet composed of traditional detached chalets. From this privileged location, one can enjoy panoramic views over Megève and the adjacent mountains. Whilst offering privacy, this hamlet is just a couple of minutes away from the ski lifts up to the Jaillet ski area and the amenities of central Megève are just a short drive away.

Up the road from the village centre, Demi-Quartier is a peaceful crescent-shaped neighbourhood home to around 1,000 inhabitants. It is thought that this area got its name from its unique shape. This hamlet is serviced by the Princesse ski lift and has a selection of restaurants and shops in the local area.

Megève’s international reputation began to grow around 1920 when the Rothschild family set its heart and resources on the small village. The goal was to build a destination that would match the best Swiss ski resorts: a French St Moritz. Megève attracted the “crème de la crème”, a creative, innovative and stylish crowd thirsty for a beautiful escape coated in the French “art de vivre”. Today this vibrant community remains the heart and value of the station.

Part of the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski domain, where you’ll also find Combloux and Saint Gervais, Megève has 445km of groomed pistes on the doorstep. There is an excellent variety of slopes here, most of which are red or blue runs which makes Megève a great choice for intermediates.  Snowboarders are not forgotten either and should check out the Mont Joux snow park which boasts a 120m half-pipe and a jump with an air bag so they can practise safely. 

Thanks to its farming heritage, Megève has a flourishing food scene with an abundance of dining options – 89 restaurants to be exact – and four of these have been awarded at least one Michelin star. One not to miss is Emmanuel Renaut’s Flocons de Sel which has three Michelin stars.
