With seven resorts in France and five in Switzerland, Les Portes du Soleil is regarded as the most versatile ski area in Europe. It is also one of the most accessible with numerous resorts located within an hour's drive from Geneva.
Thanks to the versatility of architectural styles and lifestyle experience offered across Portes du Soleil, buyers can find the perfect property for almost every budget.
A versatile ski domain
While the relaxed pistes on the French side are well-suited for families and beginners, the Swiss slopes offer more of a challenge, making the Portes du Soleil a fantastic destination for families as it caters to mixed ability groups. The dynamic region offers experiences for all tastes and budgets, from traditional Savoyard villages like Châtel, to purpose-built resorts such as Avoriaz, the self-proclaimed 'Capital of Snow-Boarding' thanks to its 3 fun-parks. Traditional wooden chalets, stone houses, small boutiques and souvenir shops dot the village centres and keep a coherently authentic alpine feel across the region. The largest of the resorts, Morzine, is where the web of interconnected slopes originated and now offers the area's best nightlife.
Les Portes du Soleil Selected.
“Although the slopes across les Portes du Soleil are set at a relatively low range, snowfall is substantial during winter months thanks to the weather micro-climate the runs between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. It is also a superb sport for summer breaks too.”

From beautiful traditional chalets in intimate locations through to snow front apartments, discover our selection of the best properties for sale in the Portes du Soleil.
Purpose-built resort Avoriaz combines a strategically sunny town with shady slopes, futuristic apartments with some of the best fun parks in the Alps and is a favourite with groups and families, giving properties here a good rental yield. In comparison, the charming town of Les Gets is under an hour to Geneva, meaning you can hop on a flight in the morning and tucking into raclette on the slops comes lunch-time. While small modern studios are more abundant in places like Avoriaz, chic chalet-style accommodation is more common in Châtel and Les Gets.
As annual investments in services and infrastructure continue to improve both the quality of the experience and accessibility, Les Portes du Soleil is a region on the up.
