Named after ski legend Jean-Claude Killy, a Val d’Isère native who won three gold medals in the 1968 Olympic Games, Espace Killy is a sporty, world-class ski area. The ski domain comprises two of the biggest names in the French Alps, Val d’Isère and Tignes.

Whilst each of the resorts offers a unique atmosphere, they enjoy access to the same 300km of high-altitude skiing and are both internationally popular destinations in which to enjoy alpine sports and the French ‘Savoir Vivre’.

Local Property Experts

Our team of property experts have found the very best chalets and apartments for sale in Espace Killy. With a modern-minded approach we apply to everything we do.

There is a diverse array of ski properties for sale in Espace Killy and each of its resorts, Val d’Isère and Tignes, has a different property offering. In Val d’Isère there is a good mix of ski chalets and ski apartments for sale, however, new-build opportunities are becoming increasingly rare here. With limited plots for development and the cancellation of the village’s urbanism plan,  the new-build properties on the market right now could be the last opportunities available for a while.

With an abundance of high-rise buildings, ski apartments are the most common type of ski property for sale in Tignes. However, that being said, there are a handful of spacious ski chalets scattered throughout its five villages for those who want something more intimate and traditional.

Domain overview

Espace Killy is the third-largest ski domain in the French Alps and a favourite with intermediate and advanced skiers. The 157 pistes are incredibly diverse with mainly blue and red slopes as well as a good selection of green and black runs too. Plus, there are great off-piste options if you want to carve your own route.

Snowboarders are not forgotten either as the domain boasts two snowparks with a selection of rails and obstacles to master.

Key resorts

Val d’Isère:

Often earning a place in lists of the best ski resorts the world – and quite rightly so – Val d’Isère offers superb skiing and an authentic Alpine atmosphere. Roman Carel, Founder of Athena Advisers shares his top tips for skiing in Val d’Isère. Plus, it has a legendary après-ski scene with a plethora of bars and restaurants for unwinding in after hitting the slopes. Take a look at our collection of ski properties for sale in Val d’Isère.

Tignes:
Tignes comprises five individual villages and is recognised as one of the best ski resorts in Europe. Given its altitude (2,100m), Tignes has the top snow record in France – it’s always the first and last resort to open and close each year. Though it may not offer the authentic village charm of Val d’Isère, it offers convenience, great snow and more competitive prices.

Summer activities

One of the key attractions of Espace Killy is that it is possible to ski on the Grande Motte glacier for 10 months of the year, which means that the dream of summer skiing is a reality in Tignes.

During the summer, many of the ski lifts remain open which makes Espace Killy great for mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. In addition, there is a good range of summer activities for the whole family to enjoy including tennis, horseriding and fishing. Golfers should check out the 18-hole course golf course in Tignes, Golf du Lac Tignes, which is the highest course in Europe at an astonishing 2,100m above sea level.
