This area, one of the most recent regions to be developed in the heart of Lisbon is very aptly named. Welcome to Avenidas Novas, which translates literally into ‘new avenues’, one of the few places in the city that perfectly merges the history and evolution of three centuries of architecture. Here, modern glass and steel buildings sit side-by-side with grand palaces and art nouveau or art deco constructions along flat, wide, tree-lined avenues.
