Although Neuilly is technically a suburb of Paris, it is immediately adjacent to the city and directly extends it through very efficient transport links. As a result, the area is now composed of mostly wealthy, discerning residential neighbourhoods, as well as the headquarters of many corporations.
It is often lumped together with some areas of the neighbouring 16th arrondissement of Paris as Auteuil-Neuilly-Passy, a collection of “bourgeois” neighbourhoods in Paris. Neuilly is often considered as the richest of the 129 French communes that have more than 20,000 inhabitants. Paris is the most visited city in the world. With around 42 million tourists annually the city contains 3,800 historical monuments and four UNESCO World Heritage sites.
This famous destination is today one of the world’s leading business and cultural centres, and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world’s major global cities.
