Val Thorens stands out among other villages in Les Trois Vallées region with its state of the art ski apparatus, including a snow-groomer with electric transmission. It is the highest of all the resorts in Les Trois Vallées region and the highest in Europe, set at a whopping 3,230m high. This means that ski pistes are directly linked to most doorsteps and that snow is guaranteed from November to May.
The resort houses a world-class snowpark that includes jumps and obstacles. In the early season, Val Thorens tends to attract a younger set of tourists, mostly students, but then makes way for families and groups of older adults. It offers cheaper prices and modern apartment blocks.
In the village, it is possible to see families and – thanks to the premium nature of the area – a famous face or two. However, the resort has managed to continue to attract a younger crowd due to its incredible skiing runs and world-class snowparks. Luxury hotels stand alongside gastronomic restaurants and premium cocktail bars, filled with international Moncler-clad visitors.
