2013 X Games – another notch in Tignes’ belt19th March 2013
The 2013 X Games in Tignes is about to kick off! Starting tomorrow (March 20th) and lasting for three days the competition will be fierce as this is a good rehearsal for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
Even though the Flying Tomato aka Shaun White will not be here, there will be a lot to watch in The Alps, from France’s own and fan favourite Aluan Ricciardi to Great Britain’s rider James Woods, a bronze medallist at the X Games Aspen.
This X Games is another notch in the belt for Tignes which hosted events during the 1992 Olympics and is an example of its wide international appeal to snow lovers of all ages. Of course, its growth as a resort has helped it to accommodate such events. Modern day Tignes is made up of 5 villages, Brevieres, Lavachet, Le Lac, Val Claret and Les Boisses, which is currently being transformed into ‘Tignes 1800’ which will be a new destination for the Espace Killy mountain range.
Athena’s Camille Letuve is in the Espace Killy this week checking on the progress of the brand new range of properties at Tignes 1800. His timing for this trip seems to have been perfect.
